As much as I hate it, I hope the MC is injured because then there is a small chance she might escape death.... ironically. It might be on of those, he is accident prone, but since the MC jumps in-between they both life. You know like, her death is set in stone that the "story" won't kill her off until certain things happen. Like that horror movie final destination
