God, I loved this one. Finally figured it out after reading it twice.
They are brothers with a third one who is married. The one with glasses is a deep undercover cop investigating yakuza. The other is an oil tanker captain. He thinks he needs the beard to command his crew because he has a smaller stature (and a cute face).
