I'm not fond of the deal with the ex, but I do think it's necessary for Hasumi as it's his way of showing his resolve (since he's been all talk). Also it ensures a clear break from the past that's obviously hurt him a lot. Does he need permission to get together with the FL? Obviously no, but unless he's able to "prove" himself, I doubt he's ever going to have piece of mind, and it will likely haunt him even if he's together with the FL. Either way, we all know how this ends. Regardless of who you prefer, it's Shino's choice, and it is Hasumi who she loves.
