~my analysis~

1. stockholm syndrome (similar but not exactly)
・ takashi uses seduction as a way to manipulate koichi
- takashi clearly shows signs of neglecting him, which makes koichi want takashi to
love and care for him instead of ignoring him

my ending: koichi stays in the house for about a week until the neighbors come to check up on the place and end up finding koichi holding the dead body of takashi while muttering under his breath, "don't leave me". koichi gets taken by the police and is put into juvie. he still loves takashi.

2. munchausen syndrome (similar but not exactly)
・ the brother has alzheimer's disease (a progressive disease that destroys memories
and mental functions)
・ the doctor does not understand what love is but he does love his brother in
his own twisted way
・the doctor is a sadist who doesn't understand the emotion of sadness
- the doctor purposely reminds his brother of the trauma he created for him
- the doctor hurts the girl because of his "love" for his brother and he enjoys seeing
him suffering but also seeing his brother depending on him

my ending: the doctor cries and finally realizes how sadness works and what he has done wrong. (takashi's actions make the doctor realize his wrongdoings.) he lets go of his brother and surrenders himself while getting hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital. the brother is free and still has alzheimer's but no longer has trauma. he is taken care of by his caretaker [pg. 50 top left corner]. when he sees takashi and they both look fine it's just saying that they are both happy with their lives. koichi gets a lingering feeling from what takashi said but it isn’t a bad one which shows that he has overcome his past troubles and so did takashi.

3. philophobia (the fear of falling in love)
・koichi's extreme phobia interferes with his daily life
・takashi experiences rejection and understands koichi
- takashi is koichi's only source of interaction
- being on the verge of death makes koichi realize what he's doing is not healthy for
himself

my ending: takashi helps koichi become healthier. koichi finds his worth and gets over it with the help of takashi. when koichi called out for takashi, takashi felt loved by koichi when he realized that koichi remembered his name even though he only told him once. takashi confesses his love for koichi and they end up together. during their relationship, they show each other the love and support that they did not have before. takashi is no longer a host and repays his debt with the money he earned from a regular part-time job. he spends his free time writing novels and haiku books about love and life. takashi treats koichi like a baby and spoils him. koichi reads takashi's novels and supports him in his passion for story writing. they live happily together.

4. golden child syndrome (similar but not exactly)
・koichi was trained by his mother to meet expectations
・the mother neglects her son's feelings and only wants her son to meet expectations so
that she could look better in the eyes of others
- he uses her belief in the real world and towards takashi's love
- koichi feels pressure from takashi's love confession because of the lack of information
(koichi does not know what takashi expects of him so he just assumes that he can't
make takashi sad or disappointed which is the way his mother felt)
- he hallucinates the person watching him and goes crazy trying to impress takashi
- the more he sees that person watching him the more accomplished he feels
- the shadow man is like a sign of encouragement to koichi
- the mother realizes that koichi is no longer himself and tries to make him snap back to
reality

my ending: the next day at school koichi tells takashi that the girl was his mother and that he had no romantic feelings towards her. takashi is confused and tells koichi that he doesn’t know what he's talking about. koichi starts to yell at takashi and tells him everything. takashi gets scared and runs away while calling the police. takashi does not love koichi to that extent and so he lives on and forgets about him. koichi gets taken to a psychiatric hospital and feels betrayed by takashi.
