It’s most likely because he’s never received any affection his entire life that he might not be able to understand how he has to treasure the affection she gives him. He feels safe and alive around her which is probably how he seems a bit obsessed

I find it a bit funny wolf fur (forgot his name) seems to have a crush on a 5 yo. It may just be affection like her family gives her, but it looks more like a crush to me. Actually he seemed to be a bit obsessed with her since they first met when the MC was like 3.
