i don't like how the author made the mc unchangeably identify as a male at the end when the whole plotline is about them wanting to explore more on their gender transition while being mentally challenged by the criticism of society. with this ending, it makes me feel like the mc still hates themself & their body.
TRANS WOMAN ARE WOMAN. gender DOESNT NOT EQUATE sex

Not all trans get to live in the open just like some homosexuals choose to live in the closet their whole life. It's tragic but I think that's the overall theme of this manga. All four main characters don't get to live the life that they want. Not all tragedies are deeply traumatic and profound, we live with little tragedies around us but despite it all, despite the emotional/psychological burden caused by these little tragedies, the depression, the suicidal thoughts, we choose to continue living and continue to hope that our life means something. If you read other trans manga titled "smells like a green spirit" it shows two sides of story where, in the end, one main character choose to live as trans/genderfluid (out of the closet) and the other one choose to live as a man.

well I mean this is japan, maybe the author was trying to a take realistic approach? Since in reality gay and transpeople have no legal rights or protections aside that homosexuality isn't criminalized and transpeople are medically able to transition. Aside from that there's no job or housing security since in Japan you can lose your job and housing solely for being LGBT, since it's a very homophobic and transphobic society, so many people either move to another country with less discrimination or live their life in the closet
