The legal age of consent in Japan is 13 years old. Ren is 16 years old apparently (I just googled this) so it's legal in Japan.
that's misinformation actually lol. the LOWEST age of consent can be in japan, but it differs between prefectures since they each have their own age of consent (similar to how the united states has age of consent state by state). basically every prefecture in japan has age of consent at 16 - 18, and ones that have lower have technicalities, (ie: even if the age of consent was at, let's say 13 - 15, that would only mean that 13 - 15 year olds can consent to OTHER 13 - 15 year olds, not legal adults) but japan doesn't have a national age of consent, just prefectural and it definitely isn't 13...
