Agreed. Nothing like piling guilt and responsibility on someone who is already hurting. She's gone for about five days, and when she shows up at the hospital, they guilt her about forgetting their son. I call that psychological abuse. The couple weren't even engaged. The parents found the ring and notes and decided it themselves and guilted her into being a fiancee. Nice!

Is it illegal? Not at all. Anyone can try and guilt any other person for anything until the victim gets a restraining order. This is something that misguided parental love can actually do. When I was in high school (in the 1970's; now you can guess pretty accurately how old I am), a girl I knew slightly broke up with her boyfriend, someone I knew hardly at all. That night, he shot himself in the head with his father's pistol. His parents started blaming her for the entire episode and calling her a murderer. About a week later, she slit her wrists and would have died if her father hadn't gone to check on her late at night. The boy's parents almost gloated publicly about it. The girl's parents took her and moved out of town, pretty much leaving no forwarding address. I don't know of anyone who ever spoke to the boy's parents after that. Were they guilty of a crime? In my opinion, yes, but not under the law.
That's fucked up. I hope Karma got the boy's parents...I wonder why she broke up with him
