I don't want to shame any culture but it's because the audience (mainly Chinese women and young girls) like this type of thing. This exists because there's an audience for it.
Don't get me wrong there are people with these preferences all over the world but Chinese webtoons are mainly consumed by Chinese people and are crafted to suit their culture and beliefs.
Some women read this and like that the MC will probably get the ML (whoever that is) to like her and stop being an asshole and they find that romantic even though he might've tortured her before.
I can't understand that AT ALL. How is this romance ? Why do women have to be doormats to be loved ? I rarely like Chinese webtoons for this reason.

Yeah I had read soo many and I always droped them because the females were always weak and the male leads always saved them and the plot wasn t developing and the characters never had their development either. The other thing I hate about chinese or korean pieces I do not know wich it is that it is always about revenge right and left. It is so annoying that every character is out for revenge. For things like bumping into eachother they kill because you were rude bastard, and all of them is like that, and if there is a strong lead character it will also kill for these reasons like wtf they kill eachother for things only kids get angry for, and the hirearchy is always too tireing to read and gets too much importance in the storys. There are good plots but with so many unnecesary killing and revenge and idiotic characters who think they have the right to kill someone just because they looked at them, they allways become strange, uninteresting, and leaves a bad aftertaste and also feels like a waste of time for me. ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
And I mean no offense, if any of you like them like them, but I got dissapointed in too many and lost hope for development.

This webtoon is very frustrating and very bad, in my opinion. I've seen raws up to chapter 38 and the brat has caused so many incidents (he slapped her during a ceremony, pushed her into a pond, slapped her other times, he pushed the little princess and the MC saved her landing her in bed AGAIN). The king is the most useless piece of garbage ever. He spoiled the kid and now when he does this bullshit he slightly reprimands him and never punishes him properly and he seems to have some regrets in the end of chapter 38 but seriously, every character is so useless and uninteresting and even the MC is meh I thought she was going to be a strong woman but she is docile with very slight reactions sometimes...
Such a waste of time
