From what I remember the king falls in love with her too but to maintain peace he gets three wives (none are Paulina) he impregnates her and I think she left to raise the child. (Not sure about the leaving part, I don’t remember it well)

Yah. Paulina runs away to give birth to a prince. But the emperor decides to change the law for Paulina, so that they can marry. Also lmaoooo the three wives get bad endings. One dies during childbirth giving birth to a princess. One is imprisoned while another one is divorced.
I kinda ship Paulina and aino, after hearing spoilers about what really happpens, I prefer this ship
