please say sike! as an Asian i can assure you that it's definitely NOT normal. traditional practice =/= morally right. moreso if this practice is only common in certain cultures, and mostly done back when people weren't educated on this taboo. in fact, incest is considered a heinous crime in the majority of cultures and faiths worldwide now. there are 48 countries in Asia and hundreds of ethnic groups so there are cases of some cultures still practicing it today but they're often blindsided by their own beliefs and Asians nowadays are just as disgusted about incest as you are. not to mention Greek history has a entire record of incest...
Well in Pakistan cousins do get married.. not uneducated villagers..well educated people get married to their cousins in Pakistan.. I'm telling this coz one of my closest friend is married to her cousin.. and she got married when she was 25.. in 2009.. so it's not like some teen girl getting married to her cousin in 90s'.. not just her, her sisters are married to some of their other cousins.. marrying your own cousin is a taboo or not in some Asian countries, educated people do do that.. i dont think it's a cultural so thing I think they just wanna be married within the family.. so hence they get married to their cousins.. dont just go and say people do that coz they are uneducated or it's just a cultural thing.. its 21st century.. some people do it coz they wanna.. eventhough I would never get involved with any of my cousins.. some do..
It's not normal but it happens. I was weirded out when my cousins(I never knew existed) got married with each other. Although it was common back in the old days where they are from, there was no history of it in the family and it was openly condemned. But they still ended up getting married despite growing up in the internet era and being educated. I must add, I wasn't surprised when one of the kids showed mild down syndrome tendencies. Honestly, genetic disorders are no joke and it's sad when offsprings suffer the consequences of selfish decisions. But when it's fiction and a manga, I will cut the mangakas some slack. Lol.
Why is there even an argument about this? Some people just don’t like reading about incest so they left when they found out about it. I don’t care if its considered “normal” in Asia or not. I don’t want to read a love story about cousins. End of story.
