yep. you should stop having high expectations of someone who you thought was going to become a great father to you because adults (mostly toxic adults) are hard to change.. you can be thankful, you can be respectful, and you can sympathize with him but your father does not deserve a shred of your love.

I'm grateful that my parents are not divorce but when they fight it scares me and I don't know how my dad got so lucky to have married my mom. He does not hit her anymore but he verbally abuses her. When he's drunk I just hid in my room and hope for the best. I respect him but I stoped loving him.
