It is however considered ephebophilia. And depending where you live, it's considered statutory rape. Laws like these are in place for a reason.
I have noticed more people calling out these a kind of cliches (age-gap, forcing oneself on another and it turning into love, etc.) but I think that's just progressiveness occuring where people are becoming aware that hey this kind of weird. I'm aware this is fiction but it's based within a realistic setting. It's fair criticism.

Don't be obtuse. A highschooler sneaking into clubs and an adult KNOWINGLY sleeping with a teen are two different things. The latter is 100% predatory even if it isn't pedophilia. A minor child cannot consent to an adult.
