A lot of successful lawyers (or in other jobs, like the ones working in restaurants, bar...) leave their "safe" job in order to go independent and be their own boss once they have the money, success and connection needed.
I feel like maybe the ex is suspicious since she chose to retire from a major law firm. She could just stay at her cushy job so why leave? Is she trying to get zaizen back again or does she genuinely want to help?
