People seem to use the tags just to remember what the manga they read was about because its easy to go "What the hell was that one manga about___" after you haven't read the story in a while. Makes sense. Plus they might be tagging it for the kinkiness factor: The whole "Straight guy becomes gay over the course of the story angst" type of thing.
from what i’ve seen the main criteria people use for choosing their tags are their popularity with that manga, because it’s easier to pick something pre-establishment and not always necessarily logical but somewhat related to the manga than to come up with one on their own. I can relate to that but i must admit it’s often too crazy
