Not sure why you got downvotes, I agree. BL is mostly idealized fiction anyway, what harm does it do to add to their illusion of happiness by allowing them to come out to family and friends? It doesn't all have to be happy, coming out party, but so much of BL seems to shy away from this idea that it's fairly noticeable.
Exactly. While I understand that these manga try to portray reality esp in Japanese society, I don't think it is a bad idea to add nice idealized situations, wishing there will be a day where they come true.
I agree with you totally on this subject. Since BL and yaoi are 99% fantasy anyway, why throw the cold water of reality on it with "lack of societal acceptance"? Go big or go home. It's not as if the story is inundated with realism to start. Like, spontaneous anal sex without lube! Good luck with that! I'll send some Preparation H and iron tablets in your get well basket because you are gonna bleed like a stuck pig and have hemorrhoids the size of boulders after that little adventure! If the sex can be a fantasy, why can't acceptance be too?
I wish there will be more manga where the couple do not hesitate to acknowledge their relationship and come out to their friends or family instead of saying it is disgusting.
