My dad is exactly the same but with our dog and does not kiss my mom we all make a joke that the dog is more important then my mom
I did the same when our dog was alive. Cuddling with the dog and talking with it and then 5 minutes later I realize my dad is there and go "Oh, hi dad". However he was just as bad. One time my parents went on holiday and he told the dog goodbye and left with my mom saying "you took 5 minutes to say goodbye to the dog but did you say goodbye to your daughter?"
I do the same thing with my cat when I come home from work to the point my mum has picked up on it. Repeatedly...... ┗( T﹏T )┛

when my dad gets home from work he kisses my mom (if she's a the door) and then goes " Where's my favorite baby son ?!!!! ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ" <- witch is our cat, cuddles him till he (cat) tries to run away, and then says hello to us mere humans ╮(￣▽￣)╭
