A pure-blood vampire seems to drink blood to sustain themselves and if we assume the Director is a pure-blood, then they/he could also absorb essence or sexual energy more efficiently than a half-blood vampire.
A half-blood vampire like Doyoon requires essence since their/his body could not tolerate the blood. There's also absorption difficulties depending on the source of the essence (eg. Jitae was human and Doyoon had difficulties with absorbing his essence) like certain individuals are more difficult to absorb essence from. Currently, Jooyoung and Doyoon assume that the Director is human~
