Uncensoring - the good, the BAD, and the ugly

What part are you complaining about and how is it messing with the story?

I think it’s the part where they redrew the diks and they made it look like they went all the way and it’s confusing a lot of people, when eichi says they haven’t done it all the way but the redraws make it look like they did (idk if I made sense lol)

It was kind of confusing because the first time Eichi didn't have sex, but yet when it was re-drawn as if they were. They weren't supposed to have sex in the first half of the story, because the other guy wanted to protect Eichi and it was only when Eichi said that he wanted to did they have sex

I get its a part where they redraw I want to know which part. Why? Because I quickly went though the manga and they do point out they are rubbing against each other. Not only that but the redraws follow the glow in the raws.

So unless someone has a specific part they noticed because I didn't see it I'm going with you thought they went all the way, seeing as a lot of yaoi does, and never corrected your misconceptions. (You as a general you)

they are talking about the very 2 first pages of the chapter where they have redrawn it making it look like they were having sex, but according to eichi they didnt have sex but were only rubbing against each other and doing sumata

Which is my point, the glow looks like they did it multiple times. The second page should be fixed thought. But the glows are still ambiguous.

Ok of course I agree with what youre saying, bad dicks ruin the mood of the story completely, but there's also something I have to address especially with all this confusion about penetrating or not. So firstly, redrawing dicks is a hard job. The raws aren't even solid lightsabers but more of a fuzzy blob of censorship. Naturally this is hard to distinguish from if there is penetration or not since the dick and ass and everything in between are all painted white. And since when it's time for the redrawing stage we are given a completely wordless and contextless chapter to redraw, it's hard to know that they were doing sumata this whole time. If it's sex, usually we assume it's penetration and draw it as such. I personally had no interest in this series and so didn't read the already released chapters when I was assigned to redraw this series, so I hadn't known it was a struggle for the uke to have penetrative sex, and obviously without the words on the page I would have never assumed such. I'm not saying it wasn't my fault for drawing penetration, but it was a mistake with the quality checkers, typesetters, and any last lookovers the chapters had before being released. These mistakes can happen sometimes, and yeah, I'd rather the redraws matched with the story, but there's no fixing it now. And just quickly touching on the quality of the redraw itself, yes, looking back on the first chapter I did makes me cringe in horror. I was new to the group at the time with no prior experience so naturally my techniques (or lack of) wasn't the best match with the art style. Again I completely agree with you that the sudden dark tone on the very light page is jarring and overall ugly. But if you compare the most recent chapter, you can see how much better I got at it. These chapters were assigned to me months apart and I'm glad I was able to grow as a redrawer to blend the dicks with the rest of the toning. Hopefully from now on there won't be significant damage to the sex scenes lol. And as for whether to leave it lightsabers or not, it's completely up to the scan group. You may not like it personally, but that's not what the scan group thought and so did it their preferred way. And if you have problems with other redrawers, how about you try it yourself sometime, see how simple it is.

I'm glad that you worked hard for us, I always appreciate that art is, well, an *art* and not a science. IDC that you weren't particularly "into the story" at the time of the assignment - since it was a job you agreed to do, volunteer or otherwise, it's best practice to do your best whether you're into it or not. Not having all the chapters was something I considered before posting this, because I know how vague heavy censoring can get without context...

However. I meant what I said about messing with original artwork. By that, I mean *fudging, moving, erasing, or completely redrawing* body lines to make an uncensored scene "work" the way the scanlators or fixers think it SHOULD - not how it ACTUALLY IS.

You drew this, and have already said you've learned and grown a lot from this project - I can personally see tons of artistic improvement in later chapters, but my opinion doesn't mean much, ne? Point is, I'm not going to point out which early panels are TOO modified, because you already know.

I don't mean this as a personal attack - I don't think you're a bad person. I dislike the practice of over-modification during redraws and judge it to be disrespectful to the original published creator and the work. It's my opinion. I'm not going to take up dick pencil shading as a hobby to prove the point. Take what you want from it, hopefully a tiny hesitation before a massive redraw - but if not - *shrug*

I think this was a Quality Check error. The redrawer would be working with the cleaned files and would not have the translation. They were guessing what was behind the censoring and they guessed wrong. BUT someone should have caught the error and had the redrawer fix it, or put the original censored image back if fixing it wasn't an option.

This is actually really good de-censoring... It was just a mistake.
