So, this is my hypothesis
So the guy being called eagle has the Chinese character for eagle in his name (ying/鹰）and the pink hair dude has the character for sparrow in his name (que/雀）thus the animal representation of him was a sparrow.
But for the main couple, they are a cat and a dog because they act like one, nothing to do with their names. (=・ω・=)
