OK, so the thing is, Beyond Birthday actually existed in the world of Death Note. You can see L talking about the L.A.B.B. Serial Murder Case with the task force after Naomi Misora has gone missing. L.A.B.B. stands for Los Angeles Beyond Birthday. And there's actually a book called L.A.B.B. Serial Murders, written by the author of Death Note, which has come out after the original story of Kira was finished. It's a really really good book and I really recommend you to read it.
