No. I think it's more about Aoi not able to come live with Hakumei because Ushio won't be able to survive it. Since he is unconnected to them by blood.
So they have to wait until Ushio is an adult and able to live on his own (college?). Then Aoi will come to live with him.
It also seems like Aoi is chosen by his family's Inugami? So he is to be a Mistress as well?
So until the kid grows up Aoi commutes to see his lover. I am kinda amused at the part where he said that he can't do anything until the kid is an adult and ends up lovers anyways.
