the mc have a responsible character, and love his family regardless being twisted that why he can't just leave and runaway from everything. but what he is doing now isn't right either, he isn't doing any good to anyone he is just hurting himself, when you have hard time and can't runaway, and no one is in your side, then at least don't let yourself be your enemy too! be strong, take good care of your self, have fun by yourself, be freind with yourself, then even if things didn't work right, you wouldn't loss yourself at least. some would see this as just beautiful unrealest talk, but it's the only thing that you can do. doing one thing right, better than not doing anything don't you think so?
