Hi guys! (Be aware of my bad english please, thank you!)

So I just started to get involved in K-pop. Well... not exactly just now, but I haven't really listened to it before. A few months ago I started to listen to Seventeen, but I guess it was yesterday when I discovered Big Bang, which I reaaaallly like, they're fantastic! Love them so much, especially the girls' dance (I saw a few dance practice videos). So! My question would be; what is YG? What is MAMA awards, anyone would please explain? I did actually look it up on Google but it still wasn't clear at all... I also saw fans flipping over at the awards, because there were no YG or whatever...? From all I can think of, YG is like a big family, with quite a lot bands, and they have professional dancers, and all...
Sorry if I offend someone, anyone, with my non-existing knowledge of K-pop.
Can anybody recommend me any good K-pop that is similar to Big Bang? I know there must be a few and I just have to look it up on Google and all, but I want to see you guys' opinions :)
Also! If anyone learns Korean, could you recommend me some ways to learn the language? I'm a total beginner tho, can't understand anything in Korean, so please be aware of this when you try to recommend how to start to learn the language. I'd like to be able to speak a few languages, I have 8 planned in total, but I only know 2, which is my native and english. So yeah, I have to start learn languages now, haha.
Thank you!

YG is an entertainment company that was founded by Yan Hyun Suk, it is famous for being home to many popular K-pop artists including Big Bang, 2NE1, Winner, iKON, etc. There's also a joke in the K-pop fandom about the 'YG dungeon' and this is because some groups in YG aren't promoted and don't have many comebacks are 'locked in a kpop prison'.

MAMA is a music show award that is held near the end of the year. It's where many artists are awarded awards in their respective catergories. It's quite competitve and fans vote for their favourite artists in many different catergories 'best boy group', 'best music video', etc. Artists can also be awared the 'Daesang' which is a grand award.

For learning Korean, I suggest looking up videos on YouTube and also watching native Koreans talk (tv shows, k-drama, etc) so you get a gist of pronounciation. There's also websites that you can find (search study Korean or sth similar) that give you lessons in Hangul (Korean alphabet) and the basics.

I hope this helps :^) anyone is welcome to add anything I might've missed

YG is a big entertainment company in South Korea and is considered one of the Big Three of Korean entertainment. It consists of its CEO and a large number of groups, BigBang being one of them. MAMA Awards is a award ceremony thingy where a bunch of groups from different companies come together and receive awards based on how popular they are, the number of albums were sold, etc. There was a problem with MAMA this year because there were no YG acts attending the award program.

In South Korea, generally if you know the group, you will eventually know the entertainment it belongs to. Currently, the Big Three entertainment companies is YG, JYP, and SM. YG calls themselves a family- YG Family. JYP calls themselves a nation- JYP Nation. And SM calls themselves a town- SM Town. There are also others companies like BigHit, Starship, Jellyfish, Pledis (Seventeen), etc. And the groups can range anywhere from 2-20 ish (unless your in Japan, then there can be 148 of you in one group (AKB148)). Usually the groups are not coed but I believe that was changed when Kard (DSP Media) debuted. A debut is when the group officially produces music in the world and a debut song is their first officially produced song. Each group also has their own light sticks and fan chants. BigBang's lightstick I believe is a golden/yellow VIP crown. They each even have their own fan base names- BigBang is VIPs. SO their fans are called VIPs.

Recommendations (I prefer boy groups, so....)
    BTS (BigHit)
    EXO (SM)
    Monsta X (Starship)
    VIXX (Jellyfish)
    BAP (TS)
    Super Junior (SM)
    SHINee (SM)
    B1A4 (WM)
    Day6 (JYP)
    Winner (YG)
    IKON (YG)
    Got7 (JYP)
    FTIsland (FNC)
    NCT (SM)
    ASTRO (Fantagio)
    Block B (KQ)
    KNK (YNB)
    Etc,

A few girl groups I know is:
    F(x)
    Girls Generation
    Black Pink
    Mamamoo
    Etc,

    A few solos are:
    Zion.T
    Crush
    Jay Park
    Dean
    Taeyeon
    Ailee
