He isn't ugly to us. But author.makes the character seem like less attractive and that's a typical trope in bl mangas too. Like they make them as ugly protagonist but he will charm everyone in the story. That kind.

But they're given the position, sometimes because they're introverted and unapproachable and sometimes cause of their beauty standards. Ofcourse noone thinks freckles are ugly. But according to some beauty standards they don't prefer that. That's all

Just pointing out that in my opinion author did that by drawing him with eyes like that... like... he's the only character with eyes drawn like that... that's the only "beauty standard" of the comic he doesn't fit in.. and in everything else he is not worse than any other character... so again: he's not ugly, and I think author have drawn his eyes like that in an attempt to make him less attractive than the others.
