I didn't mind the cute puppy ML at first but recently he is becoming more annoying. Worshipping someone is awful because he is basically projecting every god-like quality into her and that, in a real/realistic scenario, almost always ends up in tragedy. The worshipper eventually finds something imperfect about their "god" and it makes them turn against them or their obsession manifest in other creepy ways....
Either way, his "I love her but I need to stay away even though she, a fully grown adult woman, reassured me that I wasn't doing anything wrong by being next to her" is infuriating. It's almost up there on top of the list of stupid reasons to stay away with the competitor being "I love this person and I don't want to worry them so, I will do everything to hurt them including making them believe I'm cheating and hate them"
