I think it's well practices by some people including me so here's how to do it.
In my country, we have ro wash the raw chicken, you put patis, soy sauce, a little bit of vinegar, some powder pepper and Idk which spuces my mom put since all I do is watch her do it, I saw her mixed eggs in it and then put the chicken with those sauce and leave it in the freezer or if you're cooking it the next day, just leave it in the fridge overnight instead of freezer because once it freezes, you will need to wait more to melt it.
The next day, you can either fry it or use bread crumbs and powder to make your chicken crispy.

He's a "pretty good" cook? No he's cooking looks so amazing bro. As a uni student that food is like god-tier to me. My usual diet consists of instant ramen and sometimes if I'm free, some soy sauce marinated chicken, and you're telling me he's just "pretty good"???? If someone bought me a hand cooked lunch like that, marriage no questions asked wedding next week.
