Foreshadowing much? So I'm guessing his motive for ruining her life is because he thought he would lose her after the war. I was thinking all along that he found some way to pin everything he experienced on her and started to hate her (bc how can you treat somebody you don't hate that way) but maybe he never hated her and he's just fucked in the head ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Or maybe it's a mix of both? Maybe his type of evil can only come from both being fucked in the head and delusional. Either way, he could just a product of his circumstances. I mean with that level of bullshit you'd have to have godly levels of steel mindedness to not go crazy. Man needed serious therapy before getting with our MC
