I hope I will live to see Ian come back, I know the flashback will likely take the whole season, but I didn’t think it would be THAT LONG. On top of that there is a break between seasons that could take half a year to a year. It’s been over a year since the flashback started and I guess the season will last at least half a year more. So according my calculations, we have 1,5 years left till we go back to the main story. And the break from the main story will be 2,5 years long. Never seen something like this happen before.
