He puts effort into forming the relationship but if the other person starts putting equal or more effort he pushes them away (prob coz he's scared to get use to all the love/affection and it being taken away if they ever break up), so being with him WOULD be a red flag, not out of malice, but just coz he would likely (unconsciously) give his partners anxiety, put more pressure on the partner to maintain the relationship, and force the partner to constantly change depending on the author's mood
