jinx's author being popular, as in, the author already had a manga that was a huge hit and had fans who were anticipating a second one, also contributes to its popularity. (not saying that it's the only reason) And yes, with all honesty, people do flock to Jinx because of it's popularity. what attention to details are there? constant sex?

Jinx isn't some revolutionary manga, like for example: "10 years I've loved you the most". Jinx's whole dynamic is cliche; the big rich top uses and abuses the poor innocent and doormat bottom, then something tragic happens, and the top starts to run back to him. Besides the existence of his " Jinx", that's basically it. you can find a bunch of stories with that exact dynamic, but a different plot.

the reasons people were fighting in the comments initially were because are torn between whether or not he is being raped. not some intellectually-led discourse, no, just:

"He literally being raped, Jaekyung is such a awful top" then somebody repleis with an essay encompassing of "rape is your perspective" and more bullshit.

if you want a current "stand out" BL, with as awful tops as Jinx, but with non-braindead bottom, i can recommend you a few, but start with "Codename Anastasia" or "Passion"

I'm not sure if you're a new reader, but if you think Jinx is the greatest manga of all time right now, you may want to start actually looking.

I’ve been reading yaoi since 2009, NO, I’m not new, I’m a vet. You aren’t understanding what I’m saying, love. Yaoi with a good story that doesn’t fall into tropes and has the absence of abuse is VERY rare. I can count on my fingers only on one hand in that regard BL that is like that. It’s not about whether the story is good or not in the argument I’m making (I never said Jinx is the best anything, I said it’s the current IT girl of the BL world and I will explain why now). Abuse/fighting is what sells in general, but is the dynamic that BL fans eat up, along with the smut/a masculine top with money/poor bottom who is little with cute facial features, but that’s not all it takes. It takes a certain formula and the art comes into play as well. Jinx has that formula down to a T. Mingwa also put an actual sport that’s lucrative into the center of the story and got the attention to details down pact. People are soaking it up, regardless of the story being subpar, it has the shock value that’s going to keep viewers engaged and not bore them. Painter of the night is the perfect other example of this exactly. Killing Stalking’s plot fell flat midway into the series, but it had the formula/shock value to become a stand out BL from the rest with a big following (the memes alone). The two BL you mentioned may or may not have a way better story/plot than Jinx, but people will not flock to them or amass a following like Jinx has if the formula/tropes aren’t there that sell. There’s a few other stories I love with all my heart, but I know they will not reach Jinx levels of viewership/attention because they don’t have the formula. I mean we are writing whole desertions about this one story lol

The fact is that Jinx is the no. 1 trending bl in the history of modern bls and leaves every other one in the dust. However, the majority of readers are clueless as to why they're drawn to Jinx. Many will tell you it's because they hate JK, some will say it's because it's abhorrent, some will say they hate the repressed uke trope, so many "reasons" but the REAL reason which you have eloquently articulated in your comment above.

The fact is, Jinx leaves every other manhwa in the dust because the author got the "formula" right, even better than their first one, BJ Alex. It has most certainly secured it's place as one of the most compelling bls and I believe no one will forget it easily.

I completely agree, not only does this manhwa suck bullshit but people are only anticipated because who the author is.

This BL has no credibility whatsoever to be so highly rated…scroll through the main homepage of mangago, find a BL and guarantee it will have a shitty dom x vulnerable stupid bottom trope.

Cocoon of the heart, 10 years where I loved you the most etc. all have such amazing storylines but have never reached even a peak of this level popularity.

I’m so sick of everyone being mad at “Jinx” like the whole story is gonna go Jaekyung feels bad and wants his little bottom back, that purple haired guy will probably come back and fight jaekyung for the poor guy, that ex bottom jaekyung had will probably cause problems between Jaekyung and Dan, Jaekyung will realize his feelings and Dan being vulnerable he’ll accept them despite everything

I know you are replying to the other person, but I can agree with you on there’s BLs that exist with great plot line, pacing, etc. that don’t reach great heights of popularity and it’s not fair honestly. There’s one in particular on here with gorgeous art (I don’t remember the name, but it’s carbon copy BL rubbish (blonde hair omega who had baby with genetic sickness and rich, cold/psychotic alpha top that forces omega to marry him for cure because the sickness is from the alpha family, that’s all I remember), BUT the plot on that BL was just complete trash and out of place smut, I don’t even remember the name of the BL cause it was so bad, the beautiful art went to waste. Some of these authors need to do just do the art/drawing and hire a writer and vise versa because it’s getting real bad out here.
