I think there was misunderstanding in her "novel POV". Maybe same like "The perks of being villain" MC who misunderstood the families hating on her while they were just being awkward. From what I gather so far: 1. MC was never been harassed or abused by Perdia family 2. The duchess didn't fond of her (like of course it's normal when she brought in as illegitimate daughter) but duchess didn't even scold her or abusing her. She also react normally when MC visited her green house, she didn't even react hateful. Just normal but distant. 3. MC asked for engagement with 1st prince, while the duke against it at first, she was so stubborn, even the duke made the engagement happened. 4. Before MC got her previous live memories, she was allowed to spend money (MC clothes are good and pretty) and she said she harassed the maids, and only got scolding or probation from the duke. So it was clear that even if she act badly (typical brat villain) the family didn't really care. They don't even use her misbehaviour to slap her, or anything abusive. 5. Maybe term : they don't care. Is more fitting than abuse. It may not be complete neglect, but still "they don't care". 6. She lives separately in annex but it wasn't shabby building. She also allowed to eat in dining room together. And when she eat alone, she eat normal food not bad food like we always see in usual illegitimate story. She still have her tea time and even allowed to call designer to the house instead shopping to the shop. 7. Even tho she is illegitimate, the family still made her attending parties and balls as Perdia 8. About how the two brothers did, I think it was normal. Again, who will be happy if your father suddenly bring illegitimate child into home. But it's not like the brothers hit her or play prank on her.
I m guessing that her being killed in novel was not the doing of perdia family, but by some scheme of 2nd prince.
