Media literacy is dead

Why do authors assume their audience is stupid. Like if you want to turn off your mind and just mindlessly consumes media read this but there is not one provoking thought in this manhwa. Which is such a shame because the concept is actually intriguing. ML is already weirdly catching feelings as if y’all haven’t known each other for three days, the FL is so dumb I literally cannot like please think for once in your life. This is a side note but what’s with these stories always using Romani ppl to be exotic and then casually dropping slurs. This is such a reoccurring thing in historical manhwas it’s somehow always middle eastern/south Asian/ or Romani ppl that end up in these stories as exotic or barbaric hello? Mfs will try and be historically accurate and forget abt the Islamic Golden Age during this time.

Tbh I've always assumed the word in korean refers to some ethnic minority or a nomadic people group (this is more based on the stories I read, as this is what it seems to refer to) and just somehow gets translated to what it does. I have seen the slur used in some official translations though and it always makes me cringe... and the people who they use the word for are rarely actually inspired by Romani culture for the name to be used. In some ways, I can understand a villain using the term, especially when mocking someone, but that doesn't really excuse it since you could just use some other insult.

I def agree with you, again idk if the term used in korean really refers ro Romani people, but at least the official english translations should do better.
