I’m with you. At this stage, I feel bad towards Yajima more than Torikai. I know that he has some kind of ‘trauma’ with the ex but to simply assume that Yajima might reacts the same as the ex, is on him.

Torikai said he was afraid of hurting Yajima, but to me, his decision to not tell Yajima was mostly about protecting himself.
