Yeah, but they weren't dating in the first place. She (14-16) developed a crush on him (17-19) They just had some after noon tea everyday with her doing mainly all the talking. He literally had no idea about her feelings, that's why he called himself naive. It's completely normal for teenagers to develop crushes on people not in their year, the ick factor is for when there's a power imbalance in a relationship. (and that doesn't apply here.

Huh? Like I said, Martha was going to confess when she was 16 and he was 19, but couldn't. And he came back to the school when she was 19 and he was 22. Op could have meant either the option 1 or the option 2, and most people consider both those ages as completely normal. When you are a young adult (college) , all your options are not gonna be the same age as you, and that doesn't always equate to a power imbalance. Cus the main point is to date people with similiar circumstances and experiences as you. Just because the age gap couple is older doesn't mean the relationship won't be exploitative, and vice versa.

Both options are still weird like I said middle school high school and teacher student, the only way it wouldn’t be weirdish is if he wasn’t a teacher. But whatever man it just seems you want to defend this weirdness
