I don't like chiharu.

i hate fls like her who love to assume and overthink all by their self and complicates things in the process.
they could've have had a better relationship if only she'll communicate with seta as much as seta does. seta's been communicative and straight forward from the start and he even voiced out his wanting for a normal couple relationship, idk what's it is with chiharu that she just can't be honest with him from the get go.

i guess their making the excuse of "women of this time period are taught to be meek and submissive" crap.

Or it's because she has low self-esteem since she's been rejected and ridiculed since she's become an adult, so what is that, at least 10 years now.
On top of the fact, it looks like she doesn't have any friends, and the one time someone did show her love and acceptance of her birth mark/insecurities she was ghosted.

I get what you mean no doubt, just I don't see how that would fit her background at all. At least not this fast.

if she could talk to seta straight forwardly the first time they met, she could talk to him like that again. her character fluctuating from being someone who could poise herself and to a dumbdumb just doesn't sit right.
it's like they're trying so hard to sell her off as a damsel in distress when she could've been more than that as shown in the first chapters

I would love to see more of here like that, agreed. But so far I understood her characterization along of the lines of her "slipping up"; she's got this carefully curated personality plastered on, much of which is based on assumptions (yep) but also how she's been treated (carefully but with pity by her parents), unwarranted cruelty by suitors (going for the trad pretty token and rejecting her for something she had absolutely not control over), with a tinge of everyone else congratulating themselves for pitying her even though that's absolutely not what she's asking for.

Her being upfront with her suitors is already a step out of the tin. Like, she thought that through and pictured the aftermath enough to go "this will probably turn out like THIS with a very low chance of deviation".

So if anything, I am curious if anyone will let her learn business. If anyone will let her explore her own feelings freely, on her own pacing. Things she likes, dislikes, her husband being one of those.

Huh?, I find him just as baffling as her. His answers are almost always evasive and cryptic. He doesn't explain his job, he doesn't tell her where he's taking her and why. He comes home late and calls it 'work' and then adds a little mention it's not all work.. etc. He hasn't even explained what really happened with that woman, only said he won't do it again. I'm really not clear how she is worse than him? She was shy about her birthmark, considering her past it's understandable. She has doubts and concerns, and honestly, IF he was the straight forward person you think he is, she wouldn't have all these causes for worry. imo
