Hide isn't confirmed to be dead in the manga unlike the anime.

There is so many questions that are left unanswered. Kaneki believes Hide is dead but just how much of what we know about Hide is the truth? Kaneki's mother was shown in his memories to be a kind, selfless person but in reality she used to hurt Kaneki. So is the Hide we know really the real Hide or just what Kaneki wants Hide to be? I'm just over complicating this but Sensei so far has shocked us readers with Kaneki's reality (it's different from what he remembers). But I want to believe Hide is his true friend and that won't ever change. However we don't know much about Hide or his past to be entirely sure. Just know that we shouldn't underestimate Hide, he extremely good at reading people which can be scary in some sense. There's also a chance that Sensei doesn't bring him back, we might never really know what happened to him. But I doubt that is the case because Hide is an important character and the readers are curious about what exactly happened to him, we need closure. Nishiki's girlfriend Kimi was reintroduced to be the founder of the Great wheel. Touka and Kosaka who is now Kuroiwa' fiancé might also get reunited. So Sensei is reuniting a lot of people (ghoul and human), so I can't help but think Kaneki and Hide will also get to reunite and that Hide will remain human.

And i remember Kaneki saying something like i wanna die just like Hide did (while saving his friends) and this is the part where in his mind Hide says dont do that bro. And i dont think this plot needs Hide anymore, like he did what he could and no one would ever care to change him a mere human into a ghoul. I dont know about anime tho. Anime can do what ever it wants, its trash anyway...

All that showed was that Hide encouraged Kaneki to recover using him. One bite out of Kaneki's shoulder was enough to revive Touka during her fight with Tsukiyama. It's never said just how much Kaneki ate.

Is it likely he's dead? I will concede that. But until they confirm it, I won't believe it. It seemed likely Amon and Takizawa died during the Anteiku raid, and look what happened there... Just saying.

Well, Touka wasnt kakuja, and didnt have a huge ass hole in her stomach. Maybe in anime he cant, but i remember that hole in manga and that shit wont close with a bite in shoulder. And i dont think there is a need of him, he doesnt really have something special to be alive anymore. We have clowns, ghoul investigators, anteiku team coming and shit. It wouldnt make sence if he came in like hi bro, hows life. Like the previous reply said, ishida hasn't made it clear yet. For all we know Kaneki's thoughts and past memories could be what he wants but not reality. The anime is getting another season, I'm still questioning if he is dead in the anime and manga.
