In the novel he never really gives up on Diana they don’t get together but he goes behind mc’s back to help her and she ends up feeling betrayed. They never really turn romantic again after that

The amount of non novel readers who have been saying this is insane. He really gave up on Diana ages ago and even (*spoiler alert) went against the temple for hestia since the crown prince made an offer for her to give up on them which resulted in putting Diana on the spot in front of the nobles and all in the novel. At this point I give up explaining to people how misunderstood
this specific spoiler is. Read the novel at this point and get ur own opinion cause it is only 35ch at BELIVE me you will understand the reason for "saving" the royal family aka Diana at that time. And for the last time, he was "ordered to" and he held a really high position that couldn’t leave him betraying the crown, especially when that situation would have resulted to chaos of the people and the crowns (royal families) position in the empire.

How is that going behind MC’s back when he literally sat her down beforehand and explained the political reasons behind his actions everytime…

This is also true.. He told Hestia first.. Hestia was disappointed as we do ofc..but she decided, that if what she is doing is truly for Kael, then she needs to considers Kael's decision too.. Altho she understood all about the political things even if Kael didn't explain it, she just doesn't care because her goal was to bring Diana down because Diana clearly do not have an ounce of remorse for whatever shit she has done.. Kael has long let go of his feeling for Diana but due to this event Hestia began having doubts thinking maybe he still have affection for her because she is his 1st love and all.. So it's more to Hestia having doubts rather than Kael himself not getting over her.. Heck Kael even got sick of OGFL/ML because cleaning their shit almost cost him losing his true love Hestia cz he didn't even really wanna go back to the capital to avoid getting involve in their mess..

This is so untrue, what?? did we read the same novel SPOILERS!!

Kael got over Diana really fast in the novel. The only reason why Kael voted to keep Diana on the throne is bc Helios BEGGED him to. Helios came over to their duchy just to explain it to Hestia bc he knew she’d misunderstand. Kael even went against the temple, and outed them of their crimes during an imperial meeting right in front of Diana, and this happened BEFORE Kael voted to keep her on the throne. Both Helios and Diana were literally shocked cuz he did this out of no where, Kael revealing the temple’s crime was the reason why Diana’s dethronement got even stronger, it was bc of Kael. THIS DUDE LEGIT SET HELIOS AND DIANA UP. Diana’s reputation was already crumbling and Helios was having a hard time trying to stabilize the situation but Kael made it worst lmao. And again, REVEALING THE TEMPLE’S CRIMES WAS WAY BEFORE KAEL VOTED TO HAVE DIANA STAY ON THE THRONE. Helios asked Kael to keep Diana on the throne bc HE was the one that still didn’t want to give up on Diana, and Kael had a high position at that time bc he was now a Duke, and everyone respected his opinions the most. And Kael told Hestia he was planning on keeping Diana on the throne, the only thing he didn’t explain was that Helios begged him to, so Hestia misunderstood BUT HE WAS ALREADY WAY OVER DIANA SO STOP SPREADING FALSE RUMOUR OF KAEL NEVER GETTING OVER DIANA WHEN HE DID.

He does get over Diana, but it just doesn’t rags on longer than it did here - I think the author wanted to portray that getting over someone is not an easy process, but i do get why people wouldn’t like it (fir example I prefer manhwa Kael)
