Both were pretty stupid. I get that from Akanishi's pov he just wanted Ryo to realize that he liked him in that way and that's why he lied. It wasn't his intention to drive Ryo to the edge. They never shared their fears or any kind of feelings honestly after all. But man, Ryo gave up and spiraled downwards right away. It's obvious to us that he was depressed before and that was the last push, but unfortunately Akanishi couldn't detect that. It's a good thing that Akanishi had a good friend who could push him in the right direction. (▰˘◡˘▰)
