I didn't expect people to agree. I was so ready to fight for my life in the comments. Just to be clear - I think Joo is being abusive, insensitive and he has attachment and other mental issues but he's not as annoying as Dan. I can't stand Dan overthinking stuff that doesn't even matter, saying things to Joo that don't matter and not saying those that do. He's naive to the point of being retarded. And also crying all the time. What pissed me the most: he never told the manager that he got an offer (attempt to bribe) from the opposing team! That means they're ready to play dirty, it's dangerous for everyone. And Dan just got drugged himself and didn't learn? How stupid do you have to be? Not telling Joo - maybe a good call but what about the manager? Security? Company? Someone? Not the first time he messes up. My blood was boiling when I saw him sleeping at work and being too tired to do his job because he wanted to buy some random shit for Joo's birthday and figured waking up in the middle of a night (waking Joo up as well cause of his insomnia) and going alone at night to do deliveries was a good idea... His employer is a damn Champion and a celebrity, he can probably get that trinket for free + get paid for promoting the brand! Dan's work as a personal physician (including sex in this case) is the most valuable and he isn't doing it well. His priorities are totally off.
Joo is very specific with his kinks and treatments and Dan is perfect for both. He could've bought some sexy lingerie / new toys, researched the newest treatments for Joo's shoulder and gotten some relaxing oils for a therapeutical birthday massage with a happy ending. It's so obvious what Joo wants and Dan did the opposite of that.
The bottom is playing the victim 24/7 no matter what he's doing. There's nothing hot or good about it. Slave mentality being portrayed as if it's a good character trait. It's not. He doesn't understand his own value.
Sorry about my rant. I took some time off of this story and came back to read 30+ chapters all at once. Imagine my frustration. I'm still pissed after 2+ days...
I'm sorry but I hate this story not just because of abuse but because of how stupid Dan is. He's focusing on all the wrong things and not doing his actual job. He's being selfish but in a such a ridiculously innocent way that it backfires each time. I think he's one of those types who sabotage themselves and then play victims. Naive to the point of being actually self-destructive. Then they just cry not realising how they got to that point. He's actively artibuting to destroying Joo's career together with his own life. Can we ditch Dan at this point and find someone suitable for Joo? They're not a match and never will be, but Dan might cost Joo his whole career.
