I get what you’re saying because it does negatively impact trans people to portray them as predators. However, I do think you have to consider cultural context, cross dressing and living as another gender is a common trope in East Asian media and generally the character does not identify as trans and it’s portrayed as a situational rather than identity. One of the most famous Chinese folktales that’s well known across East Asia is Butterfly Lovers and the female lead in that story dresses and lives as a man in order to attend school. A more recent Korean example is Coffee Prince, a drama where the male lead mistakes the female lead for a cisman and she plays into this misconception for employment reasons. I think rather than avoiding writing a trans character, it’s more likely that these authors are cis themselves and the thought of a trans character didn’t cross their minds, they’re not knowledgeable of the lived experiences of trans people, and they’re just building on existing tropes in the media.
