I truly think it's depends on your comfort level and how relaxed (and wet) your body is. If you're more relaxed, you won't tense up and it shouldn't be painful. BUT, all bodies are different. My first time wasn't painful but it was because the person I was with spent time to also make my body feel more comfortable (other forms of foreplay, etc.). :)
It’s depends what type of hymen do u have. If u have a microperforate, a cribriform or a imperforate hymen, it’s gonna hurt a lot.

Firstly, you should do foreplay, it will help get you relaxed, in the mood and light touching is a fun activity. Once you're relaxed and wet it should be easy to slip something inside.
If you're not relaxed, or wet it doesn't matter if you're a virgin or not, you're not going to have a good time without being wet and comfortable. I can't fit a dildo in me right off the bat if I take a break from using it. I'm too tight. So I have to ease myself into getting excited and that leads to easier insertion. Being a virgin doesn't make you more "tight" or anything. Hymens usually break while you're young, just by riding a bike, a horse, or doing gymnastics. The hymen is a shitty male idea that is just another misconception the world has towards women and our bodies. Most girls don't have their hymens intact by the time they're engaging in sexual activity.
