Does anyone not feel guilty of prevalence of SA in Yaoi?

Before, I sorta didn’t mind that rape often happens in Yaoi bc it sorta anyways happens in straight smut. But I also feel bad how gay ppl must feel that we romanticize rape of bl characters. It’s just uncommon for yaoi to make it natural to lead up to it so authors use rape as an excuse to maybe strangers/friends who’ve been platonic for a long time suddenly change their dynamic

but that doesnt mean that sa in bl is okay just bc it happens in straight manga too. sa shouldn't be a tool to get characters together. that's bad writing.

Yes I know that but why is literally every single yaoi about a seme forcing themselves on an uke? I do feel guilty but I can’t find yaoi without it

this was answered by op already, but the post is talking about how it’s a common and almost unavoidable event in yaoi and they became used to it… not that it should continue or be okay? the main focus was how op feels bad that for bl there’s barely normal and lighthearted romance compared to straight romances. because yaoi authors for some reason decide to randomly throw SA in sooner or later

it was a good critique on the state of bl, but you kinda jumped the gun there

oh bud just keep scrolling thru the Yaoi category, you'll find consensual soon enough. i think noncon is only about half the stuff in the genre, noncon kissing/touching included. which is still an uncomfortable phenomenon, but my point is that there's plenty of BL that's not like that out there. a lot of it is slowburn tho so u could easily just check the Shounen Ai category.
my faves are I Ship My Rival x Me and Monster and the Beast (altho sorry that one starts w a sex scene that was initally consensual but turned into rape)

Idk..I feel like some of the non con stuff is so unrealistic sometimes it just doesn’t feel as wrong since the author normally intends for it to come across a different. Though, when the rape is actually there to genuinely make the reader uncomfortable I can’t get through it.

there was good intent to this but in yaoi, rape and sa is prevalent!! it’s not that consent doesn’t exist within it, it’s that this trope is seeped in most of them

you’re right about shounen ai, but it’s a different genre of bl not yaoi. also i laughed at your disclaimer at the end of your recommendation, you too couldn’t escape your fav from having sa

there is bl without sa in it you just have to actually look for it, like with any other type of romance. of course you might become desensitized to some things in stories or lower your standards so you can read something, im guilty of that too, but i don't think we should let authors of bl and otehr romance get away with using sa as a device
