Nope they didn’t get confused I think they are just trying to show how strong he is that he can even give life to inanimate objects right?
After reading your comment I went back to reread the story and I think it's because the MC is the ruler of the other world. So I believe he can summon anything underneath his generals for his army.
I think author got confused between summoner and necromancer.. those golems are elemental while undead are not
