Same I just thought that when "og regressor pushed mc and ran away" was what he meant by abandoning him there in the dungeon to survive on his own and when he was trapped there(surviving)something happened to red hair which caused him to become evil and take powers from every awakened person.
I wouldn't feel the much for him anyway, he did scam the mc to enter the dungeon with him and many other people, no one is innocent given what the each did but the male lead id the worst for now. At least the mc tried to help the world by using his life

Okay, this is just my thought. In the first chapter, the ML said to og regressor that ' only if I wasn't abandoned' and the younger brother (guild master) and og regressor doesn't look alike at all. So my theory is, ML is related to that family. While the og regressor is cherished and named as hero, he was surviving. Also something might happened to the red head girl, so he lost all of his humanity. He was already a scum and has little conscience for other ppl since chp1.
