*This one is more on my opinion but also maybe why Yesing distance himself cause maybe Shahid is 'candidate' to be on thr throne so maybe Yesing knows Shahid needs a queen, the heir and all.

Because Yesing and Kinard have been through a lot together and Kinard is his savior. Yesing has pledged his loyalty to him, but Shahid misinterprets this unyielding loyalty as Yesing having secret feelings for Kinard.
He's just kinda dense in the romance department since he's always been loose with who he chooses to bed and doesn't go too deep into romantic territory.
