What they said, they picked her up randomly in the street in the slums bc Penelope was a lookalike and i suppose the family is superficial, they didn't want any rumors being spread that the biological daughter was gone or disappeared randomly (idr what exactly happened to the biological daughter but penelope acts in place like a pretend daughter)

Yupp, thats why they treated her poorly in the first place, the brothers just knew that Penelope wasn't their actual younger sister due to her dark pink hair that didn't resemble anyone in the family. The servants in the household just found no point in serving her since, she held no actual power or influence in the family; the father didn't give a damn about her so they neglected her. No problem lovie <3

sorry, can someone remind me how Penelope ended up as the fake daughter? how has no one known the "real" daughter was someone else and who put Penelope there in the first place? like game/story-wise, not the Penelope we know?
