Eh it depends, there can be readers who judge Uke’s more harshly than seme’s but there also tons who let Uke’s get away with things that they would be furious at seme’s for.

(Example: I read this one story where the Seme got drugged by a crazy dude and due to it, he couldn’t control himself and was under an aphrodisiac type state, people were angry at the Seme accusing him of trying to cheat- but would jump to the Uke’s defense of the Uke if the Uke was the one that got drugged). A lot of Uke’s also get away with being indecisive or like to have a hoe phase and people will defend them but will hate on seme’s who are like that.

I think going by statistics you’ll find that it’s widely more accepted for semes to act like shit bags though like..that’s not even debatable

Lol like i said it does depend. Lots of readers are/can be aware and will literally cuss out and call out ass ML/Seme. Examples are backlight, jinx, beyond memories, non zero sum, kiss me liar, profundis, unfinished business, nearly every red flag BL manhua lmao, and those were just a few. All those stories comments sections and social media posts about them are constantly filled with hate and acknowledgement for the Seme being trash.

Of course I know you’re not wrong that there’s still plenty who will excuse trash Seme just cause they’re hot. I just pointed out that many don’t even seem to notice the double standards they apply to Uke mc’s. It feels like it goes under the radar and many don’t even notice that readers constantly excuse Uke’s for things they would hate about a love interest Seme (being indecisive, leading 2nd ML on, being drunk and getting intimate with others, etc). It really just goes both ways and there’s still hundreds who will call out the wrongs of any characters. Only those who are obsessed with looks or have rose colored glasses on would be idiotic to excuse or have such double standards.
