I think you shouldn’t look into the plot for this one too much and just enjoy the art. This work honestly feels purely self indulgent and I love it. I‘m convinced the author just wanted to show off their pretty Oc‘s lol. You can tell they love them a lot from the way they keep posting drawings of them on their twitter
