Plus if helliane knows how bad the duchess treated helga why would she think helga would want to come back after running away?? It’s not like she took over the position of duchess and changed the status quo, the duchess is still in charge and helliane has no say in anything so basically everything would have continued as it had been before but probably much worse for Helga.
